How I Dealt With 290+ Google Merchant Center Errors (Without Losing My Mind)

When I connected my Shopify store to Google Merchant Center, I got slapped with 290+ product errors. Most were due to missing fields like Color and Size for variants — which Google requires for approval.

Instead of panicking (ok, maybe I panicked a little), I tackled it head-on:

What Caused the Errors:

• Missing required fields for clothing (Color, Size, Age Group)
• Incomplete product info for variants
• Google being… Google 😅

My Fix:

• Used Shopify’s bulk editor to quickly clean up the missing data
• Added Google Shopping fields like Google Product Category, Color, and Size
• Re-submitted for a re-review

What I Learned:

• Shopify doesn’t always autofill Google fields — double-check everything
• Google errors look scary, but most are fixable
• Take screenshots along the way — it makes great blog content later 😉

Still waiting on approval, but progress is progress. If your products aren’t showing up in Google, start by checking those variant fields first. You’re probably just a few clicks away from fixing it.
